December 2016

Updated: Jun 4, 2018

December 3 Big day for Kayson, it was his first birthday! Leisa came to help us celebrate. Kayson tried his first cupcake. He didn’t know what to do with it at first but once he discovered how good it tasted he had no problems eating it while also making a very big mess. He even got the shivers, either from excitement or from the sugar.

December 5 We had another birthday party for Kayson with the Lyman’s. We gathered for presents and cupcakes again. By this time Kayson had a little more experience with cupcakes and stuffed a whole one in his mouth.

December 7 Kayson was being unnaturally quiet, never a good sign. Chrissy went to check on him and discovered that he was standing above the garbage can shivering. Why was he shivering? In his quivering little hand was a used cupcake liner and he was licking the last remaining crumbs from it. I think we have a little cupcake addict on our hands.

December 8 We attended our ward’s Christmas party. Chrissy took homemade peanut butter fudge.

December 15 Kevin officially finished his fall semester of Pathway.

December 19 Kayson’s first steps. He will be walking before we know it.

December 21 Chrissy and Kayson met Grandma and Grandpa Goodsell at Chili’s for lunch.

December 22 We gathered at Kalanni’s house for the traditional tasting table. As always there was good company and delicious food.

December 24 For Christmas Eve we gathered with Chrissy’s family for soup and a gift exchange. We also watched Christmas movies.

December 25 Christmas was on a Sunday this year so we attended an hour of church. Afterward we met with Chrissy’s step sister Candace, her husband Dave and their kids for a brunch. The rest of the day was spent relaxing and opening gifts.

December 26 We had a Christmas dinner and gift exchange with the Lyman’s.

December 31 We didn’t do much for New Year’s Eve since at least one of us goes to bed by 7:30 pm. Yes we are taking about Kayson. We went to Whistle Wok for lunch and enjoyed Chinese food. If that wasn’t enough food we made pigs in a blanket and stuffed ourselves with chips and dip and donuts. We couldn’t make it to midnight-by 10:30 we were all safely asleep in our beds.

We are so grateful for the year 2016. It has brought some real challenges but also some of our greatest joys. We are especially thankful for loving friends and family to share good memories with.
