Families Supporting Adoption

Last night we attend a Families Supporting Adoption panel. We learned what an open adoption is, how to explain to the adopted child where he or she came from in a positive way and how to form relationships with birth parents. There was a couple on the panel who adopted and have what they called a "super open" adoption. They talked about how much they love their son's birth mother and how great it is to have her involved in their family. It gave us a greater perspective that an open adoption is not as scary as it seems. All we can say is HOORAY for open adoption! We hope to be able to participate in an open adoption someday.
