Lyman Family Reunion

July 6 Day 1 of the Lyman Family Reunion. The theme for the day was pioneer history so we started off with a tour at Welfare Square. It was humbling to see how amazing the church’s welfare system is. We watched some videos and got to sample some delicious cheese, bread, peanut butter and raspberry or strawberry jelly, along with some tasty chocolate milk. After the tour we went to the Church History Museum and saw some awesome artifacts and exhibits. Later that evening we gathered at the Lyman’s house for Navajo tacos. Some people slept over but we went home.

July 7 Day 2 of the Lyman Family Reunion. The theme today was Lyman History. We gathered for breakfast at the Lyman’s house then took a walk to main street Pleasant Grove. We bought candy at Smith’s Pharmacy where the Lyman siblings used to walk to as children and buy penny candy—back when it was a penny. Then we followed in our cars for a tour of places in Pleasant Grove where each sibling had memories to share. We went to the library, Grovecrest Elementary, Pleasant Grove Jr. High School, Pleasant Grove High School, the swimming pool, Harts, Purple Turtle, etc. After the tour we gathered for lunch in the basement of the library. Around dinner time we met at Brian’s house for swimming and a BBQ. This time Kayson wasn’t so afraid of the water, in fact he loved it!

July 8 Day 3 of the Lyman Family Reunion. The theme was making history. Some

gathered at the Johansen’s house for breakfast. Those that were there played games. We played a fun game called “What?” It was a lot like Apples to Apples but much more creative! After an afternoon nap and before the last part of the reunion, Kevin and I took Kayson to the Steel Day’s Classic Car Cruise at Rotary Park. Kayson was in seventh heaven! He kept saying “wow” over and over again while also simultaneously pointing at cars. For dinner we gathered at the Lyman’s house for pork sandwiches. We listened to funny, interesting, scary, spiritual stories from Greg and Lynette’s past.
