March 2014

I bet you are all excited to know what happened this month (March), so here it is:

March 3 Chrissy presented Kevin with a soap dispenser trophy. You heard it right, a "soap-dispenser-trophy". When we first moved in our apartment (a year and a half ago) we decided to invest in a high quality soap dispenser. We bought a shiny porcelain dispenser that looked like the ones you might see in a fancy hotel. Well, needless to say it lasted for about three weeks until it broke. As luck would have it we bought three other high quality soap dispensers which all maintained an average life span of 3-6 weeks. Finally after the fourth dispenser broke we concluded that it might be wise to purchase a cheaper one. This one was starting to look promising because it lasted about two months until Chrissy dropped it, breaking it into pieces. She put a sign on the shattered remains that said, "the curse of the soap dispenser" and gave it to Kevin as a trophy. This time we opted for plastic and so far so good, it has lasted for three weeks now (knock on wood).

March 8 Kevin held his end of the compromise and went with Chrissy to Disney on Ice at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake. We rode the Trax train to and from the event. The two pictures below are of us waiting for the train.

We were surprised that Disney on Ice was a lot more entertaining than we thought. Chrissy especially enjoyed it since it combined some of her two favorite things, figure skating and Disney princesses. We might even make going to Disney on Ice a new family tradition.

March 13 We attended a Families Supporting Adoption meeting and learned a lot about open adoption and were able to listen to other adoptive couples tell their story about the adoption process.

March 14 We attended a green party at Kevin's sister's house. She made delicious Irish potatoes, corned beef, and soda bread. We met our nephew Caleb for the first time.

March 17 We attended another green party to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Kevin's family. This time we wore green mustaches; they were really itchy.

March 20 The first day of spring and Chrissy's mom's birthday. We surprised her mom at Olive Garden and got free desserts.

March 23 Our energetic primary class was split so now we only have four kids to worry about. They are a lot more manageable and we don't pull out our hair as much. Although to tell the truth we will  miss our old students. *Primary is a sunday school class for children who attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

March 30 Our nephew Caleb was blessed. If you want to learn more about baby blessings check out this website and look for the paragraph that talks about naming and blessing children.

March 31 We enjoyed a dinner with Kevin's family in celebration of Caleb's blessing. We got to eat Hawaiian haystacks... YUMMMMY!
